Where your project requires registration, we register it. CHEERS is a CEC-approved HERS provider data registry.
Some compliance documents have to be registered with a HERS provider data registry approved by the California Energy Commission, rather than simply printed and signed. Registration creates the authoritative record your building department and field verifier work from.
When registration is required
Registration applies to low-rise residential buildings where compliance depends on HERS field verification, and to newly constructed homes. If your project includes measures that a rater must verify in the field — duct leakage testing and refrigerant charge verification are common examples — the documentation goes through a registry.
Where CHEERS fits
CHEERS is one of the CEC-approved provider registries operating in California. It is worth knowing that CalCERTS, long the other well-known registry, ceased operations on 2 August 2024. A number of Title 24 websites still list it as an option; if you see that, the page has not been updated.
What this means for you
You do not need to hold a registry account yourself, and you should not have to chase the paperwork. Where your project requires it, we handle registration as part of the report, and the registered documentation is included in what we send you.
If your project does not require registration, we will tell you that rather than adding a step — and a cost — that the code does not ask for.
