What Plans Do I Need to Upload?
A floor plan, elevations and a window schedule cover most residential projects. The more complete the set, the fewer questions we have to come back with.
An energy model is built from the geometry and the systems in your drawings. We need enough information to establish the conditioned floor area, the envelope assemblies, the fenestration and the equipment you intend to install.
What we normally need
- Floor plan — dimensioned, with a scale
- Elevations — all sides, showing window and door openings
- Window and door schedule — sizes, and U-factor and SHGC if already selected
- Roof and framing information — assembly type, insulation if specified
- Mechanical intent — heating, cooling and water heating equipment
- Site or plot plan — helpful for orientation and shading
If you do not have everything yet
That is common, particularly early in design. Send what exists. We can often proceed on reasonable, clearly-stated assumptions and flag them in the report, so long as you confirm them before the plans go to plan check. What we will not do is invent a value and leave you to discover it during review.
Format
Upload PDFs — up to ten files, 49 MB each. Scanned drawings are fine if they are legible. If your set is larger than that, send a download link in your order notes and we will retrieve it.
Orientation matters more than people expect. Knowing which way the building faces changes the glazing analysis, so include a north arrow if you have one.
