What Happens If My Plans Change?
Plans change — it is normal. Every report includes two revisions at no extra charge.
Design evolves between the first energy model and the final permit set. A window gets bigger, the client changes the heat pump, plan check asks for something. None of that should cost you a new report.
What a revision covers
- Changes to window or door sizes, quantities or specifications
- Different HVAC or water heating equipment
- Insulation or assembly changes
- Moderate changes in conditioned floor area
- Responding to plan-check comments on the energy documentation
What counts as a new project
If the building is fundamentally redesigned — a different footprint, a change from an addition to new construction, or a different building type altogether — that is new work rather than a revision, and we will tell you honestly rather than quietly re-running it as a revision and then invoicing.
Plan-check corrections
If your building department returns a correction relating to the energy documentation we prepared, send it to us. Addressing it is what the included revisions are for. Send the correction letter itself rather than a summary — the specific code section the plan checker cites tells us exactly what they want.
Additional revisions beyond the two included are $49 each. There is no time limit trick here: send changes when they happen.
