Title 24 Acceptance Testing by System
Each testable system has its own NRCA form. This is the map from what a project installs to which certificate it produces, and which certification the tester needs.
Mechanical systems
- Outdoor air — NRCA-MCH-02-A
- Air economizer controls and exhaust — NRCA-MCH-05-A, one per system
- Hydronic system variable flow — NRCA-MCH-10-A
- Energy management control system — NRCA-MCH-18-A
- Heat recovery and energy recovery ventilation — NRCA-MCH-23-A
Lighting systems
- Occupant sensing and automatic time switch — NRCA-LTI-02-A
- Daylight responsive controls — NRCA-LTI-03-A

How to read a form name
The pattern carries three pieces of information. NRCA is the certificate family. The next letters are the discipline — MCH for mechanical, LTI for indoor lighting, LTO for outdoor lighting. The trailing letter is who may test: -A a certified acceptance test technician, -F a field technician.
Using this at design stage
Read the list against the equipment and controls schedule before construction starts. Every line that matches is a site visit, a certified technician and a document that has to exist before the permit closes. Projects that discover this at final inspection are not short a form — they are short the work the form records.
It is also a design lever. A scheme that avoids a testable measure avoids its test, and that is a legitimate choice to make deliberately rather than by accident.
