CF3R-MCH Forms by Number: What Each ECC Test Certificate Covers
CF3R-MCH forms are the ECC-Rater's mechanical test certificates, numbered 20-H to 33-H. The commonly seen ones are 20 duct leakage, 21 duct location, 22 fan efficacy, 23 airflow, 24 enclosure air leakage, 25 refrigerant charge, 26 rated equipment, 27 ventilation and indoor air quality, and 28 return duct and filter sizing. Your CF1R lists which apply.

How to read the number
CF3R means certificate of verification, MCH means mechanical, and the two digits identify the test. Every certificate in the manual's CF3R list carries the -H suffix. Each test numbered 20 to 28 also has a CF2R twin of the same number, completed by the installer first (see the CF2R-MCH family).
Numbers 20 to 28
- 20-H duct leakage diagnostic test
- 21-H duct location verification
- 22-H fan efficacy
- 23-H airflow rate
- 24-H enclosure air leakage worksheet
- 25-H refrigerant charge verification
- 26-H rated space conditioning equipment verification
- 27-H indoor air quality and mechanical ventilation
- 28-H return duct design and air filter device sizing
Numbers 29 to 33
These cover the more specialized items: duct surface area reduction, increased duct R-value or buried ducts, ventilation cooling, a verified whole house fan, kitchen ventilation and the variable-capacity heat pump credit.
Finding the ones that apply to you
The CF1R's ECC required certification section lists the tests. Verification covers only systems that are installed, so a house without ducts has no duct test. Features in the verified list include duct sealing, refrigerant charge in ducted and mini-split systems, verified airflow, fan efficacy, kitchen exhaust including vented range hoods, HRV or ERV performance and whole-dwelling ventilation airflow. Explainers: duct leakage testing, refrigerant charge verification and whole-house ventilation.
One certificate per dwelling
Each dwelling gets its own CF3R. For a home that passed by sampling, the form says so and carries no test results. Alterations are tested individually, never as part of a sample group. The registered copy comes from the registry: see finding your CF3R. The form family is on the CF3R page, signers on who completes CF3R forms, and the design report comes from our residential service.

Frequently Asked Questions
That is the refrigerant charge verification certificate. It appears when the CF1R requires charge verification on a ducted or mini-split system.
No. A rater may not submit a CF3R for a dwelling without the installer's completed CF2R, apart from untested homes in a sample group.
